Tailgating Tips

Many people nowadays are  interested in having tailgating parties. If you haven’t tried it and you want to throw a successful tailgating party that no one will ever forget, here are some  things you need to consider as a beginner in tailgating.
Be sure that you have already packed up the things you need, like chairs, tables, trash bags and other things  and pack them into your vehicle.
Make sure  that you are ready with the foods that you will be bringing. You should learn the proper way of packing the foods. The last food to be packed must be the first one to use. Being prepared will ensure a smooth running tailgate party.
Checking the location where you are planning to do your tailgating should be done a day before you plan to party. Make sure that you have the correct space for the size of your party.    Filling up your propane tanks for cooking is one thing you should never forget. Do not just assume that it is full, instead you should go and check it out and see for yourself.    Separating your raw meats and your ready-to-eat foods and beverages should be observed. You should have a separate cooler for each of them in order to avoid bad smells and spoiling the food.    It is more advisable to the beginners to have freeze-bottled water or drinks to be use for cooling rather than putting loose ice. In this way, you can observe cleanliness and orderliness while tailgating. There will be no water scattering on the floor because of the loose and melted ice.Fly flags, balloons or anything that can be used for recognition in order for your guests to have an easy way to locate you.    Food should always be ready so that anytime your guests or participants wants to eat, you are ready and you will not be panicking to cook to order.    After grilling, you should remove the ashes and keep them in a heavy-duty foil and dip them completely in water before allowing it to be placed in a container which is non-combustible in order to observe cleanliness and safety.     Lastly, remember that after the party is over, you should clean up your own mess. Bring plenty of trash bags and recycling bags to be able to dispose all your garbage cans and bottles. Put everything in its proper places.By doing all of these things, you can consider yourself as one of the pros in tailgating.

Add Elegance to Grilling

Whether it’s a small gathering of family members or an invitation extended to friends and neighbors, entertaining can take on a delightfully casual approach when it’s done outdoors. Add instant sophistication to a casual atmosphere with these entertaining and grilling tips guaranteed to impress every guest.  Be Courteous to Your Guests…..be sure to note any food restrictions or allergies and prepare alternate options. Prepare ahead. Cut meats and vegetables, set the table, and toss the salad before the guests arrive. This will give you more time to relax and enjoy your company. Create an Ambiance….white dinnerware always looks appropriate and pairs nicely with casual double-duty prep and serving pieces, such as rustic wood cutting boards for an outdoor meal. Add instant elegance to your casual get-together with flowers. Just trim a few stems from the garden and arrange them in glasses or bowls. Offer a few different bottles of wine at the table for a great conversation starter. The best wines to serve are ones that pair well with all types of food and do not require additional aging once purchased. For example, Rioja, one of Spain’s oldest and most renowned wines, includes reds, whites and rose at all price ranges, aged to be ready to drink at purchase and complement meat, fish and vegetables. Efficiency Is Key;to speed up grilling time, partially precook chicken, red meat, potatoes, carrots and other slow-cooking food in the oven or microwave. When grilling, if you need more than one cooking temperature, mound some coals on one side to create a hot section and spread coals out on the other side for a cooler section. Grill Smart! When grilling food on skewers, cut pieces into chunks that are too large to fall through the grate. Or for easy cleanup, consider using foil packets to grill onion rings, slices of zucchini and squash or even pineapple rings. When basting, use two brushes -one green and one red. Use the green brush to baste raw meat. Once the meat has begun to cook, switch to the red brush to continue the process. This will help to avoid contamination.

Trouble-free Cooking

Those among us who love cooking and eating will be among the first to confess that being able to cook without the worry of creating a mess, spilling, or burning would be a blessing. Though there  is really no such thing as trouble free cooking there are things you can do that will take a good deal of trouble out of it for you.

Most of the tips here will be beneficial to beginners in the culinary arts, however, there are also some great refresher tips for those who are more experienced at cooking as well.

Firstly, cleaning as you go will take a lot of the trouble out of what comes after the cooking. When asked the least favorite thing about cooking a wide margin of women will say without  hesitation that the clean up is the worst thing about it. To make things easier, clean as you go. Keep a sink of hot sudsy water ready to go the entire time you are cooking and immediately wipe up any spills that occur to avoid sticky messes that are much more difficult to clean afterwards. You should also note that if you transfer your food to serving dishes and immediately wash your pots and pans they will be much easier to clean than if the food is allowed to sit in them while your family dines.

Do you find yourself often  burning your dinners? The reason? It may be that you believe in high or low when it comes to cooking and  is nothing in between. Very few meals should be cooked on high. You are much better off to begin the food preparation at a medium or medium high temperature and  adjust accordingly.

Make sure your oven is preheated. The temperature of the oven does indeed make a difference in the cooking process. While there are those that believe preheating is a simple waste of electricity it is what is required in order to achieve the optimal results when cooking. Most modern electric ovens will signal when the proper temperature has been achieved.

Select recipes that fall within your comfort zone in order to avoid making mistakes or becoming too stressed about the cooking process. Once you’ve decided on your recipe read it through a couple of times in order to be certain that you not only understand all the steps involved but also have all the necessary ingredients before beginning.

Wash your hands thoroughly and wash your hands often. Remember the sink of sudsy water  mentioned above? You’ll want to use it quite frequently in order to wash any surface, cutting board, plate, or utensil that has come into contact with raw meat in order to avoid cross contamination. The same holds true for your hands.

While these tips may seem a bit simplistic, when it comes to trouble free cooking there really is no such thing. The more you do to make the cooking process as effortless as possible the more trouble free your cooking will really be.

Quick and Easy Lunches

Let’s face it, cooking is not a top priority in the lives of every man, woman, or child on the planet. In fact, far too few people have made learning to cook a priority in their lives. This means that we often exist on convenience foods and boxed mixes rather than taking the time and effort to prepare healthy meals for our families and our own personal enjoyment.

The same holds true for lunches when we often resort to a can of soup or box of macaroni and cheese or some other such product rather than putting our creative efforts into making a quick and easy yet delicious lunch.

First of all, not all great lunches require actual cooking in order to prepare. Some of them will require the use of the microwave and some of them will need to be cooked or at least prepared before hand and reheated. The choices are virtually limitless once you understand the creative concept that must be in place. You should also find that many of these ideas are so simple you will wonder why on earth you have never thought of them.

Lettuce wraps. These make delightfully delicious lunch treats and the filling can be prepared ahead of time, which leaves only reheating the filling and wrapping when you’re ready to eat. This is a fun lunch to share with your little ones and it teaches them that lettuce is much more versatile than people often give it credit for. Some people choose to go with a teriyaki-inspired filling; some like taco inspired fillings for their lettuce rolls. Come up with a favorite filling of your very own.

Try sandwiches with different breads. Other great ideas include hollowing out crusty rolls and filling them with roast beef and cheddar. You can broil this in your oven for a few minutes for a rare sandwich treat. The cooking part is very minimal and you do not have to have in depth knowledge of anything to prepare or enjoy these simple treats. Other great bread ideas include croissants with ham and cheese or chicken salad, taco pitas and paninis (this works really well if you have a George Foreman grill or a panini press).

While this is by no means the all-around guide to cooking quick and easy lunches it is good food for thought. The hope is that this will get your own creative juices flowing so that you can prepare wonderful lunches for your family without needing to do too terribly much heavy cooking in the process.
