For outdoor cooking, you should also bring a tarpaulin that is held together by two bamboo poles or any pole made of rugged material. This is to protect the fuel products that may cause fire. If you do not have tarps, any fire resistant cloth will suffice.

When it comes to outdoor trips, it is sensible to carry extra fuel for your camping stove. Unless you are just having a short trip, you can never be too careful when it comes to fuel. Be sure to pack them in quality containers though and place markers on them. This should be done so that you don’t get fuddled with the materials you bring. You don’t want to confuse water and fuel accidently on the trip. Also make sure that they are properly sealed to avoid any leakage during the trip. These are serious fire hazards so be extra careful when handling them.

Lastly, it is also requested that outdoor campers leave the camp in the same shape as before, if not better. This is more of a moral responsibility and sensitivity to other campers. Make sure that the cooking fire is put out, and cover the area with soil once more. This may be getting long-winded, but there is never enough warning when it comes to outdoor safety. You could decide to make a checklist of all the safety measures that you should take so you would remember all of them.

Even the best cooks cut corners sometimes. Time is short in the contemporary world and we all need some quick easy recipes and techniques if we want to cook at home.

A great deal of the time involved in cooking is in reality spent in washing up afterwards. So some of the best tricks  involve avoiding making more mess than necessary. Use foil where ever you can in roasting trays and griddles. The foil can be discarded so that food never gets burned onto the pan. Try using plastic bags for marinating food. That way you will not have another dish to scrub.

Do not cast off good quality frozen produce. Some left over cooked ground beef or lamb can be turned into a shepherd’s pie very hastily and easily by adding a topping made of frozen mashed potatoes. You can even use frozen mashed potatoes as a quick and easy way to thicken a home made soup. Frozen herbs are awfully quick and easy to use because they save on all that chopping.

They are a brisk and easy route to home cooking. Some ready prepared fruit, served with crumbled amaretti cookies and ice cream make a captivating, as well as quick, desert.

A ready assembled pack of root vegetables and some beef, pork or lamb will make a goulash that can be left to cook all day in your crock pot or slow cooker. This may not be quick in the general sense, but it is quick when you come home from work at the end of the day.

Some kitchen appliances are immensely time saving. The crock pot is one of them. It takes a long time to cook a meal in one, but it is not your time. A few minutes toil in the morning will provide you with a quick and easy meal in the evening.

A microwave oven is more clearly time saving. It cuts cooking times to a fraction of conventional cooking times. It gives an improved flavor while still saving time.

A stir fry is probably the ultimate quick and easy recipe. You can get ready prepared vegetables and it is the work of a few minutes to prepare any one of a limitless medley of quick and easy meals.
